Even though our one year wedding anniversary was last Friday, August 17th, we never quite got a chance to celebrate it properly. Robert had law school orientation during the day, and then Stephen's bachelor party was that weekend. Since I had last night off from work, we decided to wait until then to go out and really celebrate.
Richard sent us a nice "paper" gift to go out to a nice dinner, so we wanted to take full advantage of it. Since we always hang out around Pacific Beach, we wanted to head downtown to go out. Our first stop was Donovan's Steakhouse in downtown, and it was a really nice place! We had an appetizer there, and Robert found his favorite drink of all time...the Moscow Mule!
For dinner we wanted to head to a Tapas restaurant called Cafe Sevilla. We actually had been to this restaurant a couple weeks prior, when Robert's sister Victoria was in town, and it was amazing! We love sangria, and Sevilla's is some of the best I've had. We got seated right away, and actually got to sit at a cool spot upstairs that overlooks the whole restaurant. We got our sangria, had a few tapas, and just really tried to enjoy the evening. It was great to catch up with Robert, and be able to hear all about his first week in law school. He already has a research assignment due this Sunday, so he actually had to go to campus Friday to do research for it, even though he doesn't have class. I am so proud of him for spending so much time studying already, and really dedicating himself to this.
Next we walked around downtown, checking out other little spots around the Gaslamp District. I love the downtown San Diego area, and would like to live down there at some point. We headed back to our house to change into more comfortable clothes, and then just went out around Pacific Beach. It was so much fun, and nice to just have the company of one another. We actually met up with one of Robert's cousins whom I recently came in contact with, Katrina. It was great to discover that a family member he didn't know about actually lives in the same city as us, and she's the same age as me too! She actually nannies for one of Robert's law professors, too! (small world!) I am considering getting back into nannying, so it's great to have someone else to talk to about it.
Overall, our first wedding anniversary was a great one! Even though we had to wait a little while to celebrate it, I'm glad we took the time to do so. I feel like this past year has flown by....I cannot wait to look back next year and see how much our lives have changed, and what else we have accomplished. Thanks for the cards and love from everyone, we love and miss you all !
Look at this adorable card Robert got me! He is the sweetest :)
