Today is a big day for Robert and I, because it is our one year wedding anniversary! Not only is it a big day because of that, but also because Robert is finishing his last day of orientation for law school at the University of San Diego. This big event has been long awaited, and we both are so ecstatic, yet nervous, that it is finally here! It was a little over two years ago that Robert was recovering from his ACL reconstructive surgery, and he sat me down to tell me big news. He wanted to quit his job as a Senior Manager at the Cheesecake Factory, go back to school to finish his undergrad, and then go to law school. I was shocked, surprised, and flustered all at the same time. I cried because it is a scary thought to have your boyfriend tell you he is going to quit his well-paying job, go back to serving tables, and go back to school all in the same sentence. Even though I was scared and somewhat apprehensive, I knew that if we stuck together and relied on one another, that we could do anything.
So Robert started putting the wheels into motion to follow this dream of his. He found out that the University of San Fransisco had a Sacramento campus, and a program that he could start for Fall 2010, the same semester that I was transferring to Sac State. I never would have thought we would both be finishing our last two years of undergrad at the same time, and actually end up graduating the same weekend! God truly did have a plan for us, and opened up all the doors that has got us where we are today.
During the past two years of us finishing up our undergrad degrees, we both served tables at BJ's Roseville, got engaged, and then got married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! It has been a whirlwind of a ride, both working and going to school, and barely scraping by to pay the bills, but we both have faith that it will all pay off in the end! Robert is so smart and driven, that I have complete trust in him to provide for our family, and by going to law school and doing what he truly loves, I know our dreams will come true!
I just wanted to start our blog off with a little history about how we got where we are, and I hope that you all enjoy following our story as Robert spends the next three years studying his butt off, and I spend it supporting him, working, and praying that all of this hard work pays off. We just moved to San Diego a little over a month ago, don't really know anyone down here, and it is a bit scary, but we are trusting in God that he has a plan for us! Let the fun begin!
